This Privacy Policy describes how Betaque Private Limited, operating the Closot brand (“Closot,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the Closot connected workspace, our websites at closot.com and app.closot.com, and any related services (collectively, the “Services”).

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information collected automatically when you use the Services, and information from third parties.

  • Account information. Your name, email address, profile picture, password, and workspace details when you create a Closot account.
  • Content. Documents, pages, projects, comments, and other content you create, upload, or share in your Closot workspace.
  • Integration data. When you connect Closot to third-party services (such as Google, Slack, or GitHub), we access only the data those services authorize, scoped to what you approve during the connection flow.
  • Usage information. Log data, device identifiers, browser type, IP address, pages viewed, and actions taken within the Services.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure product performance.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Services.
  • Authenticate users, secure accounts, and prevent abuse or fraud.
  • Personalize your experience and synchronize content across your devices.
  • Send transactional emails (such as security alerts and billing notifications) and, where permitted, product updates.
  • Analyze usage, debug issues, and improve the Services.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Closot does not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your workspace to train generalized third-party AI models.

3. Google User Data

If you sign in to Closot with Google or connect Google Drive or Google Calendar, Closot accesses only the Google user data required to deliver the features you enable:

  • Sign in with Google (openid, userinfo.email, userinfo.profile): your name, email address, and profile picture, used to create and secure your Closot account.
  • Google Drive(drive.readonly): read-only access used to show previews of Drive files you paste as links into Closot pages, and to attach a file to a database row. Closot reads only file metadata — name, type, owner, and last-modified time — and never downloads or stores the contents of your files. Closot never creates, edits, moves, or deletes anything in your Drive. Previews are fetched using your own credentials, so a preview only ever shows a file you can already open in Drive.
  • Google Calendar (calendar.events.readonly): read-only access to events on the calendar you choose, used to show your upcoming meetings inside Closot and to prepare meeting notes for events you ask Closot to cover. Closot never creates, edits, or deletes calendar events.

Closot’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data solely to provide and improve the user-facing features described above. We do not transfer it to anyone else except to service providers processing it on our instructions as necessary to provide those features, for security purposes, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale with notice to you. We never sell Google user data, never use it for advertising, and never use it to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or machine-learning models. We do not allow humans to read this data unless we have your explicit consent, it is necessary for security purposes, it is required to comply with applicable law, or it has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations. If you disconnect your Google account, Google Drive, or Google Calendar from Closot, we delete the stored OAuth tokens and any synced Google Calendar data. Closot stores no Drive file content at any time.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only in the limited circumstances described below:

  • With your workspace. Content you share in a Closot workspace is visible to members and guests you grant access to.
  • With service providers. Vetted vendors that host infrastructure, process payments, send emails, and provide analytics, processing data only on our documented instructions under contractual confidentiality and security obligations. Google user data is never shared with analytics or advertising providers, and reaches subprocessors only as needed to provide the user-facing features described in Section 3.
  • For legal reasons. When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Closot, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, with notice to affected users.

5. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete content or close your account, we delete or anonymize the associated data within a reasonable timeframe, subject to backup retention windows.

6. Security

Closot uses encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, scoped access controls, audit logging, and continuous monitoring to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to safeguard your data and notify users promptly if a qualifying incident occurs.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, as well as to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:

  • Update your profile information from your account settings.
  • Disconnect linked third-party accounts at any time from the integrations panel.
  • Request a copy or deletion of your data by emailing privacy@closot.com.
  • Opt out of non-transactional marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those messages.

8. International Data Transfers

Closot is operated by Betaque Private Limited, based in India, and processes data in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on lawful mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses to transfer data across borders.

9. Children

Closot is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Services prior to the change taking effect. Your continued use of Closot after an update means you accept the revised policy.
